THIS BOOK! I’ve been a huge fan of Carmen Maria Machado’s writing for a couple years now - her short stories in Granta are stunning and a few are in this collection.
There’s no way to place this book of incredible, eclectic, brilliant stories into one specific genre - the stories are about queerness and sexuality, feminism and women’s bodies, power and archetypes; it’s science fiction and horror, fantasy and dystopia, all written lyrically and provocatively.
